Kevin Guest House Project

Junior League Show House

IDA members have been working with the Kevin Guest House staff for a year and a half to design the new facility for its guests.  Team members include: Michelle Peller White, Carol Schaper, Mark Taylor, Robert Reeder, Barb Reformat, Karen Bialkowski and Darlene Ellis.

We have taken the house from a very rough interior to a beautiful home for guests to stay in. Junior League of Buffalo incorporated the house into the 2017 Decorator Show House.

There were also several IDA members that participated in the Junior League Show House and that donated goods for the purpose of Kevin Guest House.

Kevin Guest House opened in 1972 as America’s first independent healthcare hospitality house, serving patients of Roswell Park Cancer Institute and their families, and setting the standard for compassionate guest care.

Today, the house is part of a campus comprised of beautifully restored buildings in the heart of the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus and serves more than 1,200 guests annually from all over the country and around the world.

Ronald McDonald House Holiday Decorating Event

Decking the Halls!

This December we had the largest group of IDA members yet to participate in decorating the Ronald McDonald House for the holidays.  The IDA and Ronald McDonald House are celebrating 7 years of its partnership in decking the halls for the holidays.

We had the largest group of 21 members who came and decorated trees and mantels in the living room, family room and on the landing. The front vestibule, dining room and main foyer all donned greens, ribbon and lights and sparkle to bring joy to those families that are staying at the house. A very special thank you to our members and their families that donate there time to this worthwhile event!

Interior Design Resources finds a breathtaking home on Amherst Street

from Buffalo Rising

Interior Design Resources (IDR) is Buffalo’s only wholesale design center. The business recently moved from its original location and relocated into a gem of a building in Black Rock. The building, once home to D. B. Schunke Furniture, has been refurbished by owner, Buffalo attorney Tom Eoannou. Eoannou moved forward with the vast interior and exterior improvements with IDR specs in mind. The result is an absolutely marvelous makeover that thoroughly accommodates the business needs of IDR (as you can plainly see).

Carrol McMahon, owner of IDR, has been a decorator since 1985. IDR started in 1990 at the Pierce Arrow Building. At the time, McMahon was running two businesses; her interior decorating business and IDR. After the company began to evolve, she decided to dedicate her time to the trade-only interior design showroom.

“We’re the only game in town that is strictly to the trade,” she said.

According to McMahon, IDR has the largest selection of fabrics on the East Coast. The building is full of beautiful furniture, accessories, and quality brand names, from Majestic Mirror to Left Bank Art.

Although this interior design outlet is not a retail store, folks can reach out to a certified decorator or designer who can then act as the liaison between the customer and the center.

The opening of IDR on Amherst Street bodes well for Black Rock. This is a sensational business that not only adds aesthetically pleasing windows to the street, it also brings a professional business element that any commercial district would clamor for. Not to mention that it’s very refreshing to see this historic building back to its roots of origin.

Trendy colors come and go, but red always makes a bold statement

From Buffalo News...

Blues and greens have been getting a great deal of attention recently, but we’re here to talk about red. People who love red love it wholeheartedly. To them, red is timeless – never trendy.
